A giant indoor racing complex opened its doors in south Fort Myers on September 5. The 63,000-square-foot FastTrax facility marks the end of a difficult building project that faced many obstacles since 2023.
The site at 14501 Global Parkway shows off a winding track that climbs three stories high and spans 2,000 feet. "360-karting built and designed our track for us, and they said this is one of the most technical and complex designs they have ever done," said Jacob Elliott, director of marketing and training, according to Gulf Coast News.
Racers can pick between two tracks. Beginners start on the red course, while skilled drivers can tackle the blue track's sharp turns. Both tracks can merge into one big racing circuit. While the kids' track for ages 4-8 is still under construction, young racers 9 and up can drive junior karts on the main courses.
Owners Pat and Lisa Ciniello pushed through several challenges to finish the project. "It took a lot longer than we anticipated," Pat Ciniello said according to Gulf Shore Business. COVID-19 struck in 2020, then Hurricane Ian hit in 2022, causing major delays.
FastTrax offers more than just racing. Visitors can try duck-pin bowling, play arcade games, step into virtual worlds, or grab drinks at the sports bar. Inside, Nemo's Trackside cooks up fresh meals for hungry racers.
The staff includes 110 workers, with plans to add more. Lisa Ciniello shared her vision, "We wanted to do something incredible for the community. People are coming from miles around. I think we're going to draw from far away."
This new indoor complex takes the place of the old FastTrax outdoor track. That site closed down and is now for sale at $10 million.
