Cape Coral Theatre Serves Up Spooky Tale With Sweets and Shows

Cape Cafe Dessert Theatre is located inside Durso's Delite Bakery & Cafe at 110 NE 2nd Place, Suite 401 in Cape Coral. This Dessert Theatre is a warm and intimate, cabaret-style venue for theatre. With cafe-style seating, patrons can enjoy light desserts, coffee, and other beverages for a minimal charge, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both performers and audiences.

Beginning Oct. 4, the theatre will present the stage thriller The Spirit of Bay Manor, written by artistic director Joe Simonelli. The play follows five characters as they spend a weekend in an old upstate New York estate, attempting to uncover whether the property is truly haunted.

The production will run every weekend through Nov. 2. Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays, making it an appealing option for small groups or date nights seeking a unique night out.

The cast includes co-owners Joe Simonelli and Chris Durso, along with regular performers Sherri Hepler and Becky Nilson. Making her debut on the Cape Cafe stage is actress Rose Eda, bringing fresh energy to the ensemble.

"You can purchase wine and beer and light snacks, also pretzels, and get the coffee and dessert for free. It's kind of a different kind of theatre experience. And you're close up — the tables are right there, and the stage is right there. So, it's sort of like being in a little club. It's a great kind of date venue. You can sit with two couples at a table or just go as a couple and enjoy the whole thing together," Simonelli said.

Tickets are $28 and include coffee and pastries from Durso's Delite Bakery. Group discounts are available for parties of 12 or more. Tickets can be purchased online through the theatre's website or by phone.
