Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) ranks seventh for passenger satisfaction among midsized U.S. airports, scoring 683 out of 1,000 points. The 2025 J.D. Power study released its findings on Sept. 17, 2025.
Despite climbing from 675 to 683 points, the Fort Myers hub dropped from third place. The study gathered feedback from 30,439 travelers about staff service, food options, terminal layout, and accessibility.
Indianapolis kept its lead in the midsized category with 713 points. Other Florida airports made strong showings — Jacksonville fell to fourth with 695 points, while Palm Beach climbed to fifth, scoring 688.
RSW set a new record in 2024, serving over 11 million flyers. With four months left in 2025, the airport tracks toward matching these numbers.
"While the annual growth rate in passenger volume seems to be leveling off, we're still seeing record numbers of travelers pass through the nation's airports, and, for the most part, they are enjoying the experience," said Michael Taylor, managing director of travel, hospitality, and retail at J.D. Power, according to News-Press.
Better shops and dining pushed satisfaction up across airports. Happy travelers who rated their visit "perfect" spent $42.39 in terminals — $16.54 more than those rating it "just OK."
Midsized airports shone in security speed. Fifty-six percent of travelers cleared checkpoints within 10 minutes at these facilities, which handle between 4.5 and 9.9 million passengers yearly.
Construction teams work on major upgrades at RSW, including a new terminal wing.
