High school students at Florida SouthWestern State College saved more than $20 million this year through dual classes. The figure comes from comparing costs to standard university rates. Over 3,200 teens joined the program in 2024-2025.

A total of 436 teens earned college credentials before their high school graduation day. They picked up associate degrees and certificates weeks ahead of their diplomas.

"These students didn't just save time and money, they gained the confidence to aim higher," said Dr. Jeff Allbritten and Dr. Tammy Caraker, according to the News-Press.

The numbers tell a clear story of success. Students in the program win 50% more scholarships than their classmates. Nine out of ten graduates stay in Florida, filling vital roles in health, tech, teaching, and commerce.

Classes run at multiple sites and online, making it simple to join. Teachers go straight to schools in Hendry and Glades counties through Early College programs. Their work paid off, with 91 local students earning degrees since 2023.

This work strengthens ties between schools. Young students get a real taste of college life, meeting professors and trying out labs. Many stick with FSW after seeing what it offers.
