The Fort Myers Beach community has started The Mother of All Raffles to save the VFW. The goal is $50,000 to fix storm damage. An unnamed local donor stands ready to match contributions up to $25,000.

Each ticket costs $50, with all funds supporting the post's repairs. Buyers can purchase tickets online or at upcoming events.

"We plan to roll out an online donation plan in the next few days," said Ed Ryan, according to Beach Talk Radio News. "You can also send a check to our home made out to VFW Post 10097."

The big drawing takes place on Oct. 19 at the post. While guests wait for results, they'll enjoy a meal from the Rude Shrimp Company.

Local shops and firms can join the cause by contacting event staff. The post welcomes support through various methods.

When Oct. 19 rolls around, staff will present the donation total to post members. Adding to the excitement, the mayor plans to put on a show during the gathering.
