The upcoming golf tournament at Pelican's Nest Golf Club marks a decade of supporting veterans. Set for Nov. 3 in Bonita Springs, this year's event adds a helicopter flyover ball drop from a Lee County Sheriff's helicopter.
The sold-out event has 244 golfers participating. The tournament starts at 10:30 a.m.
"The Nest Golf Club is privileged to, for the 10th year, host the Home Base Florida Golf Tournament and continue our commitment to support no-cost clinical care for local Veterans," said U.S. Army Veteran Basil Bennett and The Nest Golf Club Golf Tournament Committee Chair, according to Gulf Coast News.
Since its start, players and sponsors have raised over $2 million. These funds back vital mental health care and support for military members facing post-service challenges.
Staff work daily to cut down suicide rates among those who served. Their efforts stretch from current troops to veterans, and extend to families coping with service-related loss.
