Wetzel’s Pretzels Launches First Walmart Shop in Fort Myers Area

A new Wetzel's Pretzels bakery opened inside the Walmart at 2523 Lee Blvd. in Lehigh Acres, Florida, on Oct. 14, 2025.

Business partners Mitul Chonati and Hitesh Barvaliya opened this location. "Having operated restaurants together for more than 15 years, Hitesh and I know the value of offering guests something fresh, fun, and delicious. We're proud to bring that same experience to Lehigh Acres with Wetzel's Pretzels," Chonati said, according to Franchising.com.

Since 2008, these local business owners have been managing 11 Cold Stone Creamery shops and five Planet Smoothie stores. Now living in Lehigh Acres, they're set on bringing more pretzel shops to Florida.

This location shows off a new take on store design. Its compact setup fits neatly into retail spaces, paving the way for more Wetzel's spots in Walmarts across the South.

Jon Fischer, who leads development at Wetzel's Pretzels, shared his thoughts: "We're thrilled for Mitul and Hitesh to open their first Wetzel's location with us as the brand continues its Florida expansion. We are looking forward to bringing our beloved pretzels to the greater Fort Myers area, and we are confident the community will embrace Wetzel's warmly."

In 1994, Bill Phelps and Rick Wetzel opened the first Wetzel's Pretzels location in Redondo Beach, California. Their small start has grown into more than 450 locations across North America.
