After five months of work, the Fort Myers Chick-fil-A, located at Six Mile Cypress Parkway and Colonial Boulevard, began serving customers again. The restaurant switched to drive-thru service to help with traffic problems in the area.

"I am so glad they are back open; I waited six months for this," said Donna, a customer, according to WINK News.

Staff posted news of the reopening on Facebook on Wednesday. The switch marks a big change in how they serve food to their guests.

Starbucks has also transitioned to a drive-thru-only model. Customer Ashley Terrell praised the changes. "Exciting! I'm actually here for my first drink. Never tried one before! I found it a lot easier," Terrell told WINK News.

With the US-41 spot still under construction, this Colonial Boulevard site stands as the only open Chick-fil-A nearby.

Residents watch with interest to see if the new setup cuts down on past traffic snarls.

Doors open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. every day except Sunday.
