Florida Gulf Coast University has kicked off three major construction projects at its Lee County site. The work will expand Cohen Student Union by 10,000 square feet, expand the Bower School of Music's space, and add a new building for health studies.

Officials shared details at a Campus In Progress: Building our Future briefing. Construction crews have begun work on the Student Union expansion, with completion set for Spring 2026.

At the Bower School of Music, new stages and practice rooms will meet rising student needs.

Academic Building 10 stands as the third key project. Set next to the Marieb College of Health on cleared ground, work starts in summer 2026. The building should open by 2029.

During the event, Project Manager II Miguel Rodriguez-Aquino displayed site plans showing Academic Building 10's future location. This structure adds another piece to FGCU's growing medical training hub.

The Student Union changes lead the timeline. Next spring's opening brings extra space where students can study, meet up, or just take a break between classes.
