The Southwest Florida Theatre Company will stage the world premiere of Once Upon a Christmastime. Shows run from Wednesday, Nov. 19, through Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, at the Music and Arts Community Center in Fort Myers. This marks the first time anyone will see this new work that weaves fairy-tale characters into Christmas themes.

Dr. Andrew M. Kurtz conceived the show. He founded and leads the Gulf Coast Symphony. Julie Carver, who serves as music director at the Southwest Florida Theatre Company, wrote the musical.

The production blends holiday songs with a tale set in a land where storybook characters discover Christmas. It draws inspiration from The Gift of the Magi.

"With Once Upon a Christmastime, I wanted to create an enchanting holiday experience that's magically musical and full of heart," Carver said, according to Broadway World. "Combining cherished Christmas songs with a fresh story featuring fairy-tale characters and inspired by The Gift of the Magi, this production is a joyful blend of music and storytelling that reminds us what makes this season so special."

Raymond McLeod will direct the show. Performers include Kiana Cintron, Natalie Brouwer, and Matt Michael. The show targets viewers of all ages.

The Music and Arts Community Center is located at 13411 Shire Lane in Fort Myers, just off Daniels Parkway.
