Ahnaysa Turner, 35, was arrested. The former treasurer of the Sarasota Little League faces charges of grand theft after authorities say she stole more than $200,000 from the nonprofit. The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office charged her with grand theft over $100,000.
Turner served on the association's executive board and became treasurer in 2022, which gave her complete control over the group's money and payments.
The organization's president reported the theft to deputies in October after getting calls about delinquent accounts and services from vendors. The president requested bank account and financial records from Turner in August, but didn't receive them until October.
A review of the bank statement showed discrepancies that included charges made with Turner's debit card and several thousand dollars missing from the account. Detectives determined the theft occurred between November 2022 and September 2025.
Investigators discovered Turner made more than 160 unauthorized ATM withdrawals during the off-season. totaling $159,060. She also made 120 in-season ATM withdrawals of $95,670.
Turner used the bank card to make $14,527 worth of purchases from Amazon, the report stated. The total amount taken from the youth baseball group reached $207,277.
The financial losses had consequences that went far past the stolen funds. The nonprofit lost its 501(c)(3) status, which allows organizations to be tax-exempt, because Turner didn't fulfill the financial agreements within the group.
Detectives called Turner's attorney to request an interview but didn't get a reply, authorities said.
