The Fort Myers Metro-McGregor Kiwanis will host its 18th annual BUG Chase 5K on Jan. 24 at the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium, located at 3450 Ortiz Ave. Registration opened with a limit of 400 runners.
Money raised goes to the BUG (Bring Up Grades) program. It also supports other youth service projects that the club runs.
Endurance Sports Timing handles the course. Runners follow trails at the nature center, then cover part of the bike path on Ortiz. Bib tag technology tracks times.
Adults pay $30 if they sign up before Dec. 5. The price jumps to $35 through Jan. 23, and on race day, the price is $40.
Kids 17 and younger pay just $20 through Dec. 5, with the price increasing to $25 between Dec. 6 and Jan. 23. Race day registration costs $30 for youth.
The first 200 people who sign up get a short-sleeved shirt made from performance material, plus a race bag and snacks. Register by Dec. 5 to guarantee your shirt size.
Pick up packets on Jan. 17 or Jan. 18 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Race day pickup starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 8:15 a.m.
Registration on race day opens at 7:30 a.m. The run begins at 8:30 a.m.
Winners get awards for overall placement and age groups.
