Town council members voted to permit outdoor alcohol consumption at a new development's hotel and restaurant. The decision passed without opposition on Dec. 15, 2025.
Beverley Milligan and Roland Weinmann own Cottages at Myerside LLC. They plan to construct 45 lodging units, four live-work spaces, and 9,000 square feet of commercial space at Estero Boulevard and School Street. Offices and retail shops could occupy the commercial area.
Drinking will be permitted on the ground floor as an accessory to the restaurant.
The third-floor rooftop patio for the hotel will also permit alcohol consumption. Alcohol service runs from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. The town's planning agency approved the change on Oct. 14, 2025.
Council members held a first hearing on Nov. 18, 2025, adding one condition.
Live music cannot play when a nearby elementary school is in session, protecting students from noise during school hours.
The project sits at a key intersection on Fort Myers Beach. Estero Boulevard serves as the main road through the barrier island town.
The 45 lodging units will function as hotel rooms. Visitors can stay at the property and access the restaurant and rooftop patio without leaving the building. The rooftop space gives guests views of the surrounding area.
Town officials required two separate hearings before giving final approval. The planning agency acts as an advisory body that reviews proposals before they reach the council. The developers must follow all conditions set by the council. Breaking the rules on live music or alcohol service hours could lead to penalties.
Construction timelines for the project were not announced. The property owners will need to get building permits before work can begin.
