With the establishment of new, direct connectivity from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers to Salt Lake City, Delta Air Lines has greatly expanded the number of ways that customers in this area can travel by air through Delta. The inaugural flight departed on Dec. 20, representing a milestone for both Delta and the airport as they strengthen air service between Southwest Florida and the western United States.

The new daily nonstop route connects Fort Myers directly with Salt Lake City, home to one of Delta's major western hubs. This new service expansion improves regional access to Salt Lake City through an improved connection for easier access to many areas throughout the Mountain West, as well as the West Coast and Pacific Northwest.

The daily nonstop schedule will remain in place until early May, meeting the increased travel demand caused by seasonal visitors and residents traveling back and forth between or through the Southwest Florida area and destinations across the western part of the United States, whether they are traveling for pleasure or business purposes.

Additionally, Delta's overall network plan aims to continue strengthening its hubs and expanding its services to the regions where they are needed most by the customer base. Salt Lake City continues to be Delta's hub for all western operations. Therefore, providing a new connection from Southwest Florida to willing travel destinations among Delta's network decreases travel times for passengers and requires fewer layover stops.

For Southwest Florida International Airport, the new nonstop service represents an important step in expanding nonstop access to major U.S. hubs. The addition of Salt Lake City further diversifies the airport's route map and reinforces its role as a growing gateway for domestic air travel.

The new Fort Myers-Salt Lake City route provides increased connectivity for the region; it also enhances Delta Air Lines' overall network in that region of Southwest Florida and gives more convenience to consumers who want a quick way to get to locations throughout the western United States.
