The Charitable Foundation of the Islands will host a Volunteer Expo on Jan. 28 at The Community House on Sanibel Island. Over 50 nonprofits, service groups, clubs, and organizations will attend. The expo runs from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The foundation will distribute $8,000 in mini grants to participating nonprofits between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Lake Michigan Credit Union funds these grants. Awards include a People's Choice Award and Best Decorated Table.

"This event is about connection — connecting people to purpose and nonprofits to the volunteers and resources they need," said Savannah Kelly, the foundation's director of community engagement, according to The News-Press. "The Volunteer Expo reflects the strong partnerships and shared commitment that keep Sanibel and Captiva connected and thriving."

These grants help strengthen programs. They support organizations that make an impact on the islands.

Pfeifer Realty Group backs the expo, and the Sanibel Community Association serves as a venue sponsor.

The Charitable Foundation of the Islands has served Sanibel and Captiva since the 1990s through the Francis Bailey Society. It became an official 501(c)(3) in 2011. Its mission? To inspire philanthropy, leadership, and collaboration for island communities.

Food and non-alcoholic refreshments will be provided. A cash bar will be available for alcoholic drinks. The first 250 attendees receive a swag bag filled with giveaways from local organizations.

The Community House is located at 2173 Periwinkle Way. Registration is available at mycfi.org.
