The 14th Annual Fort Myers Beach Putt & Pub pulled in more than $70,000 on Saturday. Organizers sent $50,000 to 13 groups that help the community. This year's contest drew 400 golfers—the biggest crowd since the tournament started.
The Fort Myers Beach Woman's Club hosted the event, and the King Family Foundation sponsored it. 13 groups teamed up with 12 restaurants to create a miniature golf course.
Teams dressed up and played all day. Beachgoers stopped to watch and join in, pushing attendance past any previous year.
"We had more sponsors than ever – who were so generous. Our non-profits and partnering restaurants created a fun-filled golf course. We even had weather that cooperated," Woman's Club member and Putt & Pub Committee Chair Dawn Thomas said in a statement, according to Beach Talk Radio News. "I also want to thank all the great golfers who came out to play and the volunteers who aided in another successful event! We can't wait for 2027."
Groups that took part were Friends of the Library, Friends of the Mound House, Friends of Lovers Key, Chamber of Commerce, FMB-PTO, FMB Strong, Community Foundation, Beach Kids, Lions Club, Sanibel School Choral, Women of Irish Heritage SWFL, FMB Art Association, and the Woman's Club.
Timeless Trendsetters grabbed first place. Brian May, Tony Davis, Al Jackson, and Dovile Gucmeris made up the squad.
The Flip Flops finished second with Nick Lapinsky, Jodi Lapinsky, Kenny Christie, and Teresa Christie. Sultans of Swing won the Duffers Award—Diane Loftness, Bill Bazoff, Julie Wolfer, and Jim Pierce played on that team.
Balls and Tee Tees earned Best Team Name. Michel Vetter, Tammy Vetter, Tim Zimmerman, and Andrea Zimmerman competed together.
The Moaning Mulligans won Best Dressed Team. That group had Diane Horton, Dave Horton, Kevin Wensley, Claire Wensley, Nick Adams, Lori Adams, Eric Edelenbos, and Nancy Edelenbos.
